This increasing demand has created business opportunities for metal scavengers. Middlemen in the trade capitalize on the rising demand for specific metals like copper and aluminum, generating substantial income. The scrap metal trade is not limited to urban areas but also thrives in states like Kaduna and Abuja. Despite challenges such as fluctuating metal prices and the risk of purchasing stolen metals, the scrap metal trade remains a profitable venture. As the demand for metals continues to rise, this industry provides an opportunity for Nigerians to earn a living and contribute to the nation’s economy.
