Nigeria has just launched an awesome new online system for managing mining activities. This digital cadastre system is going to make things super efficient and transparent, and it’s open to investors from all over the world. The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (MCO) has partnered with GAF AG to create this amazing Online Mining Cadastre System. It’s going to connect the headquarters in Abuja with six zonal offices in different parts of the country, making it easier to manage the mining sector in Nigeria.
With this new system, investors can easily submit their applications and keep track of the processing. And it’s not just for investors, the general public can also access real-time cadastral information. How cool is that?
The online mining cadastre system is powered by GAF AG’s eMC+ (electronic Mining Cadastre+). This technology ensures that mineral titles are managed in a transparent and accessible way. GAF AG is a company based in Munich, Germany, and they provide consulting services and software specifically designed for mining cadastre authorities.
At the launch ceremony, Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria, expressed his excitement about the new cadastre system. He said, ‘Nigeria now has a cadastre system that is efficient, transparent, and accessible to investors worldwide. We’ve made strategic investments in developing digital platforms and technology infrastructure to support the mining sector.’
Engr Simon Nkom, the Director General of MCO, explained that the online platform is all about giving investors and prospects from around the world easy access to their information. They can check it anytime, anywhere using their laptops or phones. This is going to attract more foreign investment and boost revenue generation for Nigeria.
The upgraded cadastre system is part of the ‘Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification Project – MINDIVER,’ which is funded by the World Bank. GAF AG was awarded the contract for upgrading and automating the Mining Cadastre Office. They’ve been working on this project since September 2018, and now it’s finally here!
This new online mining cadastre system is a game-changer for Nigeria. It’s going to revolutionize the way mining activities are managed and bring in more investment opportunities. With its efficiency and transparency, Nigeria is set to benefit from increased revenue generation. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. Kudos to Nigeria for embracing digital technology and taking a big step towards economic diversification!
