Big Meeting in London: Critical Minerals on the Agenda

There’s a big meeting happening in London called Resourcing Tomorrow, and it’s all about critical minerals. Basically, a bunch of countries like Australia, Canada, Nigeria, and the US are getting together to talk about how to get more investment into their mineral resources. They’re all trying to make sure they can keep up with the demand for minerals in things like electric car batteries and other green energy stuff.

The US is making a big move with the Inflation Reduction Act, putting in a whopping US$783 billion for investments in mining projects. And get this, they want at least 40% of the minerals in US-made electric car batteries to come from US miners or recycling plants, or from countries that have free trade deals with the US. That’s a game changer, right?

There are some big shots speaking at this event, like the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources from the US, and ministers from the UK, Nigeria, and Canada. Even the European Commission is sending someone. It’s a big deal for anyone in the mining industry, from companies to investors and suppliers. If you want to know more, you can check out their website at resourcingtomorrow.com.
