The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF) are teaming up with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for a super cool research project. They’re on a mission to stop money from slipping through the cracks in Nigeria’s mining sector, especially when it comes to small-scale miners. And guess what? They’re taking a field trip to Ethiopia to see how they handle gold mining over there. It’s all part of a plan to make sure everyone plays by the rules and doesn’t miss out on the cash. The RMAFC crew, along with UNDP Nigeria peeps, are being led by some top-notch folks like Mr Olatokunbo Ajasin, Mr Ibrahim B.B. Shettima, and Mr Abdulaziz Idris King. They’re also getting some support from the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD) and the Miners Association of Nigeria. Plus, they’re rubbing shoulders with the African Union (AU) and having some serious chats about mining policy.
