Exciting Opportunity for Women in Nigeria’s Mineral and Mining Sector

Hey everyone, check this out! There’s this cool new opportunity for women in Nigeria to get trained in the mineral and mining sector. The Minerals and Miners Centre (MMC) is offering a capacity building programme and internship slots for women groups, NGOs, and individuals. Dr Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, the country director of MMC, spilled the beans in an interview, saying that they’re reaching out to women applicants in different fields to join their internship recruitment programmes. She pointed out that the lack of knowledge is holding back progress in the sector, and it’s not just a problem for men but for women too. There’s a big gap in technical and non-technical skills needed for the solid minerals business. They’re looking for women in chemical engineering, mining engineering, civil and mechanical engineering to join the internship, as well as non-mining experts like business administrators, accountants, IT specialists, and project managers. The goal is to train women and youths in mineral processing, gemstones tumbling, cutting, polishing, and other skills related to mineral processing. Dr Asokoro-Ogaji is all about responsible mining standards and wants to boost income and purchasing power for women and men in the sector. This is a great chance for women to get in on the action and make a difference in the mineral and mining industry!
