TotalEnergies Makes Moves in Nigeria’s Deep Waters

TotalEnergies, the French supermajor, has started drilling the first development well on its Akpo West project offshore Nigeria. This project is located in deep-water Oil Mining Licence 130, which is also home to the supermajor’s Akpo and Egina fields. These fields are currently producing from two separate floating production, storage, and offloading vessels. The development of Akpo West has been in the works since Akpo began production in 2009, but it has been delayed mainly due to fiscal issues within Nigeria.
