The Nigerian Government has put together a squad of 10 people to make sure we’re getting more salt and kaolin made right here in Nigeria. The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development Head of Press, Mr. Alaba Balogun, spilled the beans on this and said the big event went down at the Ministry’s HQ in Abuja, the capital city.
During the big event, Mary Ogbe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development/ Steel Development, said that we’re all about that salt and kaolin life. She mentioned that our main man, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wants us to believe in our country and make it better. He’s all about that Renewed Hope Agenda, and he’s pushing us to use more of our own stuff, sell it abroad, and create more jobs.
Ogbe also gave the 10-man Committee some serious tasks to handle. They’ve got to find out where all the salt and kaolin is hiding, check out how many licenses have been given to mine these minerals, and figure out the cost of digging up these goodies. Plus, they’ve got to come up with a plan to build some processing plants for salt and kaolin, and give any other ideas that could help the government get this show on the road.
Dr. Ogbe didn’t mess around when she set a deadline for the Committee. She wants their report on her desk by 30 November 2023, and she’s not taking any excuses.
The big boss of the Committee is Professor Zachaeus Opafunsho, and he’s got the Director Special Duties Department, Mrs. Salamatu Umar, as his right-hand woman. These guys are on a mission to make sure we’re swimming in salt and kaolin by the time they’re done.
