Tinubu’s Visit to Berlin: Boosting Economic Cooperation

President Bola Tinubu has touched down in Berlin, Germany for the G20 Compact with Africa Conference. The conference is set to kick off on Monday, November 20, 2023, and will be hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Tinubu’s arrival was met with a warm welcome from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and Charge D’Affaires of Nigeria’s Embassy in Germany, Ambassador Ingekem Regina Ocheni. During the conference, Tinubu will be joining other Heads of State and Government of CwA member countries, bilateral partners, and Heads of International Organizations to discuss ways to boost investments in critical areas such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies. The G20 CwA Conference will coincide with the Fourth G20 Investment Summit, co-hosted by the German government and German business associations. Tinubu’s visit to Germany is a testament to his commitment to diplomatic reciprocity, following the German Chancellor’s visit to Nigeria in October. The Nigerian delegation will be engaging in productive meetings with high-ranking representatives from German business organizations to further enhance economic and business cooperation. Additionally, Tinubu will hold bilateral talks with German Chancellor Scholz and other top officials, focusing on the need for more German companies to invest in Nigeria across various sectors of the economy. Nigeria and Germany have seen an increase in bilateral trade volume, reflecting the growing economic ties between the two countries.
