So, there’s this Chinese mining company in Nigeria, right? They were doing some secret mining of titanium ore, but they got busted! The Akwa Ibom government shut down the Ruitai Mining Company because they didn’t have the right papers to mine in Ibeno. Uno Etim Eno, the environment and mineral resources commissioner, spilled the beans to the press in Uyo. He said the Chinese company was sneaking around and mining titanium ore without the proper documents. The inspection team found out that the company didn’t have a mining licence or an Environmental Impact Assessment report. They even found black clay-like minerals in sacks, which the miners claimed was titanium ore. But get this, the big shots from the company, Zeng Zhonghuan and Huang Ying, were nowhere to be found when the inspection happened. And the staff members there couldn’t give any info or documents. Turns out, the company was just exploring, and the board of directors were all Chinese nationals who couldn’t get the small-scale mining licence they claimed to have. Mr Eno said the company needs to stop mining until they sort things out with the state government. Looks like they’re in big trouble!
