Wura is the Nigerian version of the hit South African telenovela The River, which was even nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela. The story revolves around the discovery of gold in a small community in Osun state, and it follows the lives of characters who are both united and divided by this discovery. The main character, Wura-Amoo Adeleke, is a complex woman with two sides: a loving wife and mother on one hand, and a ruthless CEO of the fictional Frontline Gold Mine on the other. She’s determined to succeed at any cost, making her the ultimate Iron Lady.

The first season was a massive hit, and it even earned lead actress Scarlet Gomez a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama, Movie, or TV Series at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. The trailer for Season 2 hints at more intense drama, with Fola seeking forgiveness and Kanyin’s desperate actions leading to irreversible consequences.

Executive producer Rogers Ofime promises a rich tapestry of character development in the new season, with major characters facing tough choices and evolving in response to changing circumstances. The ensemble cast includes Nollywood veterans and rising stars, with Scarlet Gomez reprising her role as Wura Amoo-Adeleke.

Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, expressed her excitement for the upcoming season, highlighting the deep connection the story has created with audiences. She teased that the new season will delve even deeper into the captivating world of gold mining, promising more twists and turns for viewers.

As we eagerly await the second season, the burning question is whether Wura will continue her winning streak or if her luck will eventually run out. Will justice catch up with her, or will she maintain her reign? Stay tuned for the thrilling ride ahead!
