After conducting a thorough assessment of the developments within Nigeria’s mining industry, 30 civil society organizations have expressed their gratitude to Dr. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, and Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, the Director General of Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, for their exceptional accomplishments in the sector. This commendation serves as an endorsement of confidence in the Minister and the DG, demonstrating support for their unwavering efforts in executing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The organizations, represented by leaders of esteemed organizations such as the Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative (GOPRI), collectively emphasized the crucial roles played by both Alake and Nkom in this remarkable feat. Moreover, the coalition accentuated the abundant mineral resources in Nigeria and the significant potential for economic growth through reforms in the mining sector. They commended the Minister’s 7-point agenda and lauded the ongoing reforms that are propelling the sector forward.

A notable achievement revealed by the organizations is the complete digitalization and reformation of the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office under the leadership of Engr. Nkom. This transformation has positioned the office to compete on a global scale and has resulted in an impressive 86 percent increase in revenue generation.

The coalition has expressed steadfast support for the Minister and the Director General, cautioning against any efforts to discredit the Cadastre Office or its leadership. They also highlighted the agency’s impressive revenue growth, generating over N8.9 billion between 2019 and 2021, emphasizing its significant contribution to the economy.

In conclusion, the coalition remains resolute in their commitment to defend the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, the DG, and its staff as they work towards achieving President Bola Tinubu’s vision of non-oil revenue sufficiency under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
