Revamping the Mining Sector: A Call for Sustainable Legislation
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State is advocating for comprehensive legislation to revitalize the mining sector, stressing the importance of solid minerals and agriculture for Nigeria’s future. During a meeting with the members of the House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals at the Government House, Lafia, Governor Sule emphasized the necessity for a pragmatic and sustainable law to address mineral deposits within the country. He called for a homegrown solution that takes into consideration the distinctive characteristics of each state in the federation. The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals, Mr. Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, acknowledged Nasarawa State as a prominent hub for solid minerals and expressed the committee’s dedication to addressing the challenges facing the sector.
