Osun State Government’s One-Year Achievements: A Detailed Report

In a recent briefing convened in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State, the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, declared that the state government has successfully completed the construction of 90 kilometers of roads and carried out renovations in 31 schools within the inaugural year of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s tenure.

During the announcement, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing good governance and ensuring economic growth and development in the state. He stressed the efforts made to create an enabling environment for the revitalisation and progress of key sectors.

Adeleke highlighted several key accomplishments, including the reconstruction of vital intercity roads such as the Ikirun-Osogbo road, alongside ongoing work on the Iwo-Osogbo road. Furthermore, the government’s commitment to healthcare was evident through the rehabilitation of 345 health centres and addressing the welfare of doctors.

Aligned with the state’s focus on progress in technology and innovation, Osun State has implemented a digital economy agenda and introduced new ICT and technical innovation policies. The government has also developed a bill to adopt the Nigeria Startup Act and launched initiatives to enhance internet accessibility through broadband fibre optic projects.

In addition to these achievements, the administration has undertaken reforms in the public service, prioritising professionalism and instituting phased payments of inherited pension and half salary debts for government workers. Furthermore, all pensioners have been enrolled in the health insurance scheme, demonstrating the government’s commitment to their welfare.

The governor also touched on plans for the agricultural and mining sectors. Osun State aims to establish Agricultural Processing Zones and provide support for the mechanisation of farming activities. Additionally, efforts have been made to reposition the tourism sector, transforming it into a viable industry that celebrates cultural heritage. Furthermore, progress has been made in the mining sector, with increased revenue generation and the clearing of service charges on mining licenses to attract more investors.

Governor Adeleke expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Osun State for their support and confidence in his leadership. He assured them of continued good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends in the coming years.

As Osun State celebrates the one-year anniversary of its current administration, these achievements serve as a testament to the government’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate and driving progress and development across the state.
