Orosur Mining, a company listed on the TSX-V and Aim, has provided an exploration update for its Lithium West joint venture (JV) in Nigeria. The company’s mapping and sampling programme on the first licence has yielded positive results, confirming the presence of abundant pegmatites with lithium oxide results exceeding 2%. Furthermore, the acquisition of two new licences has expanded Orosur’s land position in key lithium districts in Nigeria to 533 km2. Importantly, these new licences are included within the original terms of the JV agreement, requiring no additional expenditure.

Brad George, CEO of Orosur Mining, expressed optimism about the promising results, stating that the company had pegged these licences with a clear understanding of the geological processes at play, which resulted in the discovery of numerous lithium-bearing pegmatites. This exciting development bodes well for the next phase of work on the remaining five licences.

In October, Orosur entered into a JV with Nigerian company Jurassic Mines, with the aim of earning up to 70% equity in the project by investing $5 million over five years in two phases. Subsequently, the company’s exploration teams mobilised to the site to commence mapping and sampling, effectively identifying the presence of lithium-bearing pegmatites.

The preliminary geological mapping of the licence revealed the presence of pegmatite systems over several kilometres and varying widths, emphasizing the high prospectivity of the area. Following this, crews have moved east to explore the other licences, with results expected in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, Orosur is hopeful to conduct follow-up soil sampling programs and are eager to assess the newly acquired licences. The company remains focused on evaluating new licences and opportunities to expand its land position in the medium term.

In conclusion, Orosur Mining’s successful exploration results have unveiled the immense potential of its Lithium West JV in Nigeria. The company’s strategic partnership with Jurassic Mines has paved the way for exciting developments in the country’s lithium mining industry.
