Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL), a firm involved in gold mining and exploration, has partnered with the Living Hope Care Foundation, a non-governmental community-based organisation, to deliver complimentary medical services to various communities in Osun State.

This collaboration has provided essential healthcare to SROL’s host communities, including Iperindo, Odo-Ijesha, and Imogbara. The SROL team spearheaded an extensive two-day medical outreach programme on October 20 and 21, 2023, with the support of the Osun State TB and Leprosy Control Programme for TB screening, and the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria for serology tests.

The programme included screenings, wellness checks, diagnosis, and treatment of various medical conditions, as well as laboratory investigations and optical care. Furthermore, surgical, obstetrical, and gynecological services were made accessible to the community.

Seun Fagesi, the human resources manager at Segilola Operating Limited, emphasized the importance of the event: “This outreach demonstrates our unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of our communities. Just a few weeks ago, we empowered our youth by providing them with essential tools and resources. We have also been sponsoring scholarship programs as SROL strives to enhance the standard and quality of life in our host communities,” he said.

Fagesi confirmed that a total of 1,200 cases were attended to, including 112 optical cases, 78 surgical procedures ranging from minor to supra-major, and 12 life-threatening emergencies.

The partnership between Segilola Resources and Living Hope Care Foundation is evidence of the companies’ dedication to improving the lives of individuals in the communities where they operate. This initiative not only addresses the immediate healthcare needs of the people in Osun State but also reflects a broader commitment to social responsibility.

It is heartening to see private entities stepping up to fill gaps in healthcare provision. By working with local organisations and government programmes, companies like SROL are able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals who may not have regular access to vital medical services.

The success of the medical outreach programme in Osun State serves as an inspiring example of how corporate engagement can bring about positive change in communities. As Segilola Resources and Living Hope Care Foundation continue to collaborate on initiatives such as this, it is clear that their efforts will have a lasting and far-reaching impact on the well-being of the people they serve.
