Generous Christmas Offer: Free Train Rides and 50% Off Interstate Travel Approved by President Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant initiative aimed at easing the financial burden of holiday travel for Nigerians. From December 21, 2023, to January 4, 2024, free train rides and a 50% reduction in interstate transport fares will be made available, as per a statement from the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake.
President Tinubu’s decision reflects a sincere concern for the well-being of Nigerians, particularly during the upcoming festive season. The recent escalation in transportation costs has prompted the President to take proactive measures to make travel more affordable, acknowledging the traditional surge in travel activities during this period.
Recognizing the strain that exorbitant travel costs can place on citizens, President Tinubu has taken steps to address the issue. The Federal Government will be implementing special discounted holiday season fares for road transport and providing zero-fare for rail travel across Nigeria. This will allow commuters to avail minibuses and luxury buses at a 50% discount on current fares, while train services will be accessible at no cost.
In collaboration with transporters, road transport unions, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation, the Ministry of Transportation will ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative, benefiting citizens from major transportation hubs across the country.
President Tinubu’s compassionate gesture during this festive season is a testament to his leadership and empathy, delivering relief to countless Nigerians as they prepare to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones.
