NSCDC Cracks Down on Vandals and Illegal Miners in Abuja
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken decisive action in the Federal Capital Territory, apprehending two individuals for vandalising railway infrastructure and 11 others for engaging in illegal mining activities. These arrests are part of the NSCDC’s ongoing efforts to safeguard national assets and infrastructure from criminal activities.
The railway vandals were apprehended by the operatives of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit of the NSCDC while damaging rail tracks and traffic lights in the Wuye District of the territory. Additionally, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, the NSCDC successfully apprehended eleven suspects involved in illegal mining activities at Izom, a community situated on the border of the FCT and Niger State.
During the parade of the suspects at the Command Headquarters, the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, emphasised the proactive stance of the NSCDC in combatting criminal activities within the territory. He underscored the serious approach taken by the command to address vandalism of critical national assets, illegal mining, and other forms of criminality. Odumosu made it clear that the NSCDC will not tolerate such activities and will continue to pursue those responsible for these crimes.
In a stern warning to potential wrongdoers, Odumosu asserted, “There is no hiding place for evil perpetrators.” He also assured the public that the NSCDC is actively working to bring to justice the masterminds behind these criminal acts who are still at large.
The NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to curbing vandalism and illegal mining is a significant step towards safeguarding the critical national assets and infrastructure of the Federal Capital Territory. These actions not only protect these vital resources but also serve as a deterrent to others who may seek to engage in similar criminal activities.
These decisive measures by the NSCDC demonstrate the importance of upholding the law and preserving the integrity of public infrastructure. By swiftly apprehending those responsible for these crimes, the NSCDC is sending a clear message that such unlawful activities will not be tolerated within the territory. The collaborative effort between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army showcases the dedication and determination of law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order, and to protect the nation’s critical assets.
It is essential for the public to heed the warnings issued by the NSCDC and to support their efforts in combating criminal activities. By working together, we can help to ensure the safety and security of our communities, and safeguard the national assets and infrastructure that are crucial to our collective well-being.
