Federal Government’s Determination to Eradicate Corruption in Nigeria

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to liberating Nigeria from the clutches of corruption during the inauguration of the new EFCC office complex in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Fagbemi highlighted the pivotal role of the EFCC in realising the government’s objective of accountability in governance institutions and fortifying mechanisms for holding public officials accountable. He also alluded to forthcoming reforms aimed at bolstering the Commission’s investigative and assets recovery efforts.

The AGF also underscored the significance of conducting the Commission’s affairs within the confines of the law and reminded officials of their duty to uphold the Rule of Law.

The EFCC Chairman, Mr Ola Olukoyede, urged officials to be unwavering in their endeavours to combat fraud and bolster the country’s drive to attract Foreign Direct Investment. He also lauded Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his contribution to the successful completion of the project.

Furthermore, Olukoyede called for increased commitment and professionalism from his personnel, particularly in enforcing the law against illegal miners to support the Bola Tinubu administration’s agenda in the solid minerals sector.

In his goodwill message, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasised the significance of the fight against corruption at all levels, underscoring its status as a national campaign that necessitates support from all quarters.

The commissioning of the new EFCC office complex in Ilorin stands as a testament to the government’s determination and commitment to eradicating corruption in Nigeria. With ongoing reforms and the unwavering dedication of the EFCC and government officials, the prospect of a corruption-free Nigeria becomes increasingly attainable.
