In order to facilitate more affordable holiday travel for Nigerian citizens, the government has officially announced the provision of complimentary train journeys and a 50% reduction in public bus fares nationwide during the festive season. Minister of Solid Minerals Development and chair of the inter-ministerial committee on presidential intervention, Dele Alake, has emphasized that the discounted inter-state fares and complimentary train rides will be operational from Thursday until 4th January. The government has partnered with luxury bus companies servicing 22 routes to enforce the fare reduction, ensuring widespread accessibility for travellers.
Transport Minister Sa’idu Alkali has articulated that the significant reduction in bus fares and the provision of complimentary train journeys will offer an opportunity for every Nigerian to partake in the festive season without enduring excessive transportation costs.
