Lafarge Africa’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives Across Three States

Lafarge Africa Plc has recently initiated a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in its operational areas in Ashaka, Gombe State, Mfamosing, Cross River State, and Ewekoro, Ogun State. These projects form part of the company’s annual commitment to sustainable business practices and corporate citizenship, encompassing a diverse range of initiatives such as school infrastructure projects, agricultural ecology projects, community roads rehabilitation, and healthcare and clinic renovations in various communities.

In Ashaka, Gombe State, the company has introduced a state-of-the-art school infrastructure project in Lariski, AnguwanKellumi, and JauroMaza. Additionally, Lafarge Africa has embarked on agricultural ecology projects, including the distribution of 900 bags of Urea/NPK for community farmers, solar borehole drilling, rural and community roads rehabilitation, and medical outreach programmes for coal mining communities and Funakaye residents.

In Mfamosing, Cross Rivers State, the company has activated solar street lights projects, adopted school projects, and executed various community infrastructure projects such as the construction of a town hall, provision of potable water in several communities, equipping a training centre with modern tools, and food and business equipment donations to enhance community livelihood. An Agricecology palm fruits project has also been implemented.

In Ewekoro, Ogun State, Lafarge Africa has spearheaded a significant transformational project, including the construction of a 100-meter reinforced concrete road in Alagutan community, construction of court staff quarters, culvert construction, electrification services, and the establishment of a modern town hall and a secondary school in the area.

These initiatives garnered praise from key government representatives during the events, with the Deputy Governor of Cross Rivers State, Mr. Peter Odey, commending Lafarge Africa for its unwavering dedication to community development over the past 16 years. Lafarge Africa Plc.’s Managing Director/CEO, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, reiterated the company’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth in the country, emphasizing that community engagement is deeply ingrained as one of their core values in sustainability.

The company’s dedication to these CSR initiatives demonstrates its commitment to giving back and nurturing sustainable development in the areas they call home.
