NSCDC Apprehends Suspected Railway Vandals and Illegal Miners
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has made significant arrests in the recent period. The command has taken into custody two individuals who are suspected of vandalising railway infrastructure, as well as 11 illegal miners.
According to Comfort Okomanyi, the spokesperson for the NSCDC FCT Command, the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure unit of the command. The two vandals were caught willfully damaging rail tracks and traffic lights in the Wuye Area. Additionally, the command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, was able to arrest 11 individuals at Izom, a community located at the boundary between the FCT and Niger State.
FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu, expressed that these proactive measures taken by the command will serve as a deterrent to other criminals within the territory. Odumosu emphasized the commitment of the NSCDC to combat various forms of criminality, particularly vandalism of critical national assets, illegal mining, and other criminal activities within the FCT. He assured the public that the NSCDC will continue to demonstrate zero tolerance towards vandalism.
In a separate report, President Bola Tinubu faced criticism over his intervention in the political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State. The intervention received more flak than praise from the public.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State, has advised All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to focus on the party’s manifesto and provide accurate feedback to President Bola Tinubu regarding the true state of affairs.
Also, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has raised concerns about the country’s cash crunch and the state of the national economy as the festive season approaches. The NLC addressed these issues and tackled the Federal Government on the current situation.
Furthermore, the Government has committed to ending the insecurity in Nigeria before the end of next year, acknowledging the severity of the security challenges faced by the country.
In other news, bandits have abducted the traditional ruler of Pupule in Yoro Local Council of Taraba State, as well as two police personnel, an expectant mother, and 13 other persons. This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has urged the financial sector and business owners to be aware of the growing sophistication of cyber threats and the consequent attacks on their databases and enterprises.
Moreover, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has suspended the approval and recertification of land, as well as the issuance of building plans and Certification of Occupancy (C of O) due to alleged discrepancies in the lands administration sector in the state.

Lastly, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) announced that it has destroyed 135 truckloads of counterfeit and expired products valued at about N16 billion.
