The Return of Nigeria’s Premier Mining Event in October

The Nigeria Mining Week is set to return to Abuja, Nigeria from October 16 to 18, promising to provide a vital platform for key stakeholders in the mining industry. This event will facilitate discussions on the crucial role of Nigeria’s mineral resources in fostering economic growth and sustainable development, while showcasing a wide array of investment prospects available in the country.

Hosted by the Solid Minerals Ministry and organized by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) in collaboration with PwC Nigeria and VUKA Group, the eighth edition of the Nigeria Mining Week will focus on “Capitalising on Nigeria’s Critical Mineral Resources for its Economic Growth”.

According to Dr. Mary Ogbe, the permanent secretary of the Nigeria Solid Mineral and Steel Development Ministry, the event holds significant importance for Nigeria, given the country’s rich history of mineral resources. She believes Nigeria is well-placed to harness its mineral wealth for sustainable economic growth and development.

Dele Ayanleke, the president of MAN, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its valuable contributions to Nigeria’s extractive sector and its role in shaping the Nigerian mining landscape.

In its 2022 edition, the Nigeria Mining Week saw a significant turnout, with former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and former VP Professor Yemi Osinbajo in attendance. More than 1,500 visitors, over 330 delegates, speakers, key representatives, and over 40 sponsors and exhibitors supported the event.

Patricia Kazaka, the event manager, emphasized the unique networking platform designed for the Nigerian mining community and highlighted the international presence at the event, with representation from more than 25 countries.
