Boosting Support for Nigeria Mining Week
The newly appointed Minister of Mines and Steel Development in Nigeria, Olamilekan Adegbite, has articulated his dedication to enhancing the ministry’s involvement in the annual Nigeria Mining Week.
In a press briefing held at the ministry in Abuja, Minister Adegbite unveiled his strategies to reinvigorate Nigeria Mining Week and elevate the event. He is slated to deliver a keynote address on Tuesday morning, 15 October, at the fourth annual Nigeria Mining Week conference and exhibition, scheduled to take place from 15-16 October at the NAF Centre in Nigeria’s capital city.
Following consultations with the event organizers, Minister Adegbite and the President of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), Alhaji Kabir Mohammed Kankara, reached an agreement regarding the ministry’s increased participation in Nigeria Mining Week, while maintaining its private sector-led nature.
The Minister emphasised the necessity for Nigeria to establish itself as a mining destination, with a goal to draw industry experts and reputable companies to partake in the Mining Week. He also disclosed plans for the next Mining Week to immediately follow the conclusion of the current one.
Key figures from various industry suppliers and mining companies, including PwC Nigeria, ITM Nigeria, and AG Vision Mining Ltd, conveyed their endorsement and support for the event during the briefing. Nigeria Mining Week is expected to draw more than 1200 mining experts, 180+ mines and exploration companies, and 40+ sponsors from over 24 countries.
The event, which includes a pre-conference focused on finance and investment, will present participants with opportunities to showcase the latest advancements in the mining sector and forge new business relationships. Industry leaders such as Barron, HMD Mining, and various sponsors have also extended their support to the event.
Nigeria Mining Week is being organised by Spintelligent, a respected conference and expo organiser with extensive experience in the mining industry and other related sectors. The company has successfully hosted numerous flagship shows across the continent, including Future Energy Nigeria, DRC Mining Week, and African Utility Week and POWERGEN Africa.
