Nigeria Hones in on Global Solid Minerals Prominence, Asserts Minister – The Sun Nigeria
The honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, delivered a speech at the Ministerial step-down retreat in Abuja, where he announced the ministry’s unwavering commitment to positioning Nigeria as a global hub for solid minerals.
Dr Alake conveyed the ministry’s remarkable progress in addressing all eight points on President Bola Tinubu’s agenda. He specifically highlighted the pending bill on the Nigerian Minerals Mining Cooperation, which is currently undergoing legislative processes. Furthermore, he commended the staff for their dedication to work, while encouraging them to strive for further improvement.
Representing the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Mustapha Kabiru reaffirmed the ministry of maximum legislative support to harness the potential of solid minerals and enhance the nation’s prosperity. Additionally, the Chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals, Jonathan Gbefwi, underscored the necessity to leverage the nation’s assets for industrialization and human capital development.
Emphasising the significance of the retreat, Permanent Secretary Dr Mary Ogbe stressed the necessity of sustained efforts to address the challenges facing the solid minerals sector. She urged participants to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange valuable insights, and propose innovative ideas to drive the sector’s growth and diversify the economy.
