Borno Governor Zulum Appoints Aminu Chamalwa as Director-General of State Mining Agency

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has taken a significant step with regards to the state’s mining sector. The appointment of Aminu Chamalwa as the director-general of the newly established Borno State Mining Agency (BOSMA) has been announced by the information commissioner, Usman Tar.

As a professional geologist, Mr. Chamalwa is well-acquainted with the workings of the Borno state government, having previously held positions such as deputy director of hydrology at the Borno Ministry of Water Resources from 2009 to 2018, and later as the director of planning, research, and statistics at the same ministry.

Governor Zulum has expressed confidence in Mr. Chamalwa, urging him to utilize his expertise to overhaul the mining sector in the state. The new director-general holds a degree in geology from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, and is a member of the National Association of Hydrogeologists (MNAH) and the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS).
