Minister Advocates for Peace Among Mining Companies in Nasarawa

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has urged mining firms in Nasarawa State to foster peaceful relationships during a recent meeting attended by government officials at the Lafia Government House.

Key points discussed include:
– Conflict Resolution: Acknowledgement of ongoing disputes among mining companies that need addressing before the upcoming sixth National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources meeting in November.
– Investment Climate: Emphasis on the importance of a stable environment to attract and maintain investments in the solid minerals sector.
– National Council Meeting: The November meeting will feature both technical and executive sessions to facilitate in-depth discussions on advancing the mining industry.

Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed his gratitude for hosting the meeting and highlighted unresolved issues between mining firms and the state. He also pointed out untapped mineral resources in Kokona and Keana local government areas, requesting federal exploration support.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Yakubu Kwanta, assured the federal delegation of the state’s support for mining initiatives. The delegation also presented a letter with recommendations for resolving the conflicts among mining firms.
