During a recent event honouring leading non-oil exporters, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, highlighted the important role these businesses play in driving the nation’s economic growth. This recognition underlines SROL’s significant efforts towards Nigeria’s economic diversification. Mr Austin Menegbo, Country Manager for SROL, remarked that this accolade validates the company’s leadership in non-oil exports and commitment to sustainable development. “This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic diversification through robust export initiatives. At SROL, we are proud to contribute to national development, particularly job creation. Impressively, 44 per cent of our workforce is drawn from Osun State, with 28 per cent from our host communities. This reflects our dedication to fostering sustainable growth and providing opportunities within the regions where we operate.” He also commented on the future direction of the company: “This acknowledgment encourages us to continue our journey towards sustainable development and community enrichment. We are excited about the future and remain committed to making even greater contributions to Nigeria’s export landscape.” As Nigeria’s first commercial gold mine operator, SROL oversees the Segilola Gold Mine in Osun State, which commenced commercial production in 2022. The mine produced 98,006 ounces of gold in its first year and achieved an output of 84,609 ounces in 2023, showcasing its successful operations.
