So, guess what? The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Alake, has some big plans to amp up security in Nigeria’s mining fields. And get this, the Ministry of Defence and all the military bigwigs are totally on board with this. They’re teaming up to create a Mines Surveillance Task Force and a Mines Police to keep those mining areas safe and sound. How cool is that?
And here’s the best part – the Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru, and the Minister of State, Bello Matawelle, are totally backing Dr. Alake’s plan. They’re all about making sure the mining areas are secure and thriving. I mean, they’re not just talking about it, they’re actually making moves to make it happen.
The Defence Minister even said, “We’ve got to clear the territory, as military, to ensure safety. When the Mines Police come, they can take it up from there and continue to provide security in those mining areas.” It’s all about securing those precious minerals and creating a safe space for local and foreign operators to do their thing and make the most of Nigeria’s resources.
So, it looks like the mining sector is about to get a major security upgrade, and it’s all thanks to Dr. Alake and the Ministry of Defence. This is some seriously exciting stuff!
