Bauchi Mining Firm Remains Sealed Amid Ongoing Crisis

A mining firm in Bauchi, Imperial Join Ventures (IJV), will remain sealed amid an ongoing crisis between the community and the company. Stakeholders in the conflict resolution met at the Ministry of Natural Resources and agreed to maintain the closure of the company. The Commissioner, Muhammad Bello Maiwada, expressed his disappointment over reports of trespassing into the sealed site by a few individuals. The ministry will continue to mediate the issue and urged people to stay away from the area. The stakeholders also decided to invite the Country Representative of IJV to find a lasting solution to the dispute. The District Head of the area, Alh. Hussaini Mohammad, commended the Commissioner for his efforts in resolving the conflict. The community had complained about the company’s negligence and failure to fulfill the agreed-upon terms. The meeting also reviewed and adopted the minutes of the previous meeting. The closure of IJV aims to maintain peaceful coexistence in the area.
