Osun State Achieves Major Infrastructure Milestones in First Year in Office

In the course of a single year, the government of Osun State located in Southwest Nigeria has achieved a remarkable milestone – the construction of 90 kilometres of roads and the renovation of 31 schools. This significant progress was disclosed by the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, on behalf of Governor Ademola Adeleke during a briefing with journalists in Osogbo, the state capital.

During his address, Governor Adeleke reiterated his commitment to good governance and the delivery of democratic benefits that will contribute to the economic growth and advancement of the state. He emphasized that his administration has diligently worked to create an environment conducive to creativity and revive key sectors.

A notable accomplishment highlighted by Governor Adeleke was the reconstruction of a total of 90 kilometres of roads, with an additional 45 kilometres currently in progress. Important intercity roads, such as the Ikirun-Osogbo road, have been completed, while others like the Iwo-Osogbo road are under construction. Furthermore, the welfare of doctors has been addressed, and 345 health centres in the state are scheduled for rehabilitation.

Alongside infrastructure progress, Osun State has embraced a digital economy agenda, accompanied by new ICT and technical innovation policies. The state has also taken significant steps to reform the public service and ensure professionalism, as well as the commencement of phased payment of inherited pension and half salary debt.

Governor Adeleke further elaborated on the state’s commitment to developing the agricultural and tourism sectors, the establishment of Agric Processing Zones, and the support for agricultural mechanization in Osun State. Highlighting the rejuvenation of the tourism sector into a flourishing tourism and cultural industry, Governor Adeleke also emphasized the progress made in increasing revenue generation in the mining sector.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the citizens of the state for their support and confidence in his leadership, assuring them of continued good governance and democratic benefits in the future.

In addition to Governor Adeleke and Commissioner Alimi, the briefing saw the presence of key officials such as the Commissioner for Water Resources, Sunday Oroniyi, Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Biyi Odunlade, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Rasheed Aderibigbe, Commissioner for ICT & Digital Economy, Maruf Ayofe, Special Adviser Public Enlightenment, Eniola Odeniyi, and Special Adviser Transport, Moshood Yakubu.
