The Oyo State Government is teaming up with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to put an end to illegal mining in the state. The Director General of the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Abiodun Oni, expressed this commitment during a visit to the Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Michael Adaralewa. Oni emphasized the importance of the NSCDC as a strategic partner in the fight against illegal mining and highlighted the need to stop theft and irregularities in the state’s mining sector. The state government is determined to clean up the mining sector and enforce relevant laws. Oni also commended the NSCDC Oyo State Command for their support in previous enforcement exercises and urged them to intensify their efforts. In response, Commandant Adaralewa thanked the state government for their support in providing security vehicles and equipment. He requested additional resources to enhance the fight against illegal miners and assured the NSCDC’s commitment to partnering with the state government.
