Asholio Development Association Honours Influential Figures for Positive Impact on Community
The Asholio Development Association (ADA) in Abuja recently hosted its annual end-of-year cultural celebration, “Mam Asholio”, to pay tribute to distinguished figures who have made significant contributions to the Asholio community in Kaduna State.
The honorees, such as Thomas Yatai, Jerri Bonet, Dr. Obadiah Nkom, and Dr. Victoria Akai, were acknowledged for their various contributions to the community, ranging from youth empowerment and community development to the promotion of peace and unity among the Asholio people.
During the event, Mr. Kaboshio Dauda, the Chairman of the ADA Abuja Branch, emphasized the importance of recognizing the recipients for their exceptional leadership and service as worthy representatives of the Asholio people. He stressed that the awards were intended to inspire others to follow in the footsteps of the honorees.
The cultural festival not only highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Moro’a chiefdom but also sought to unite Asholio sons and daughters in contributing to nation building and promoting peace for sustainable development. Mr. Dauda expressed satisfaction at the growth of the association, which initially began as a branch in Abuja in 1995 and has since expanded to 10 sub-branches across the Federal Capital Territory.
The Chairman also highlighted the significant contributions made by Asholio individuals to the peace, economic growth, and development of the FCT, including the operation of private businesses and service in various government agencies.
During the celebration, Mr. Yatai, one of the awardees, expressed gratitude for the recognition and urged the Asholio people to consider the role of ethnicity in nation building. He emphasized the importance of promoting peace and unity for the advancement of the community.
The immediate past National Youth Leader of the Association, Mr. Bonet, also delivered a thought-provoking speech, calling on Asholio youths to be ambassadors of peace and worthy partners in the nation’s development process. He stressed the need to shun negative lifestyles that could disrupt peace and hinder success in life.
In addition, Rep. Donatus Mathew (LP/Kaura) emphasized the crucial role of peace and unity in sustainable development. He commended the Asholio people for their efforts in promoting peace and unity through cultural festivals and pledged his continued support for the growth and development of Kaura local government area.
The event concluded with the unveiling and launching of the branch bye laws, as well as cultural dances and drama depicting unity in diversity.
The ADA’s recognition of individuals who have positively impacted the Asholio community serves as a commendable example of acknowledging and honouring those who have made outstanding contributions. The awards not only celebrate the achievements of the recipients, but also inspire others to follow suit and contribute to the development and peace of their communities.
