President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a bold commitment to providing financial assistance to graduates seeking to establish themselves in the agricultural and mining sectors throughout Nigeria. This pledge was unveiled during the momentous 7th and 8th convocation ceremonies of the Federal University Dutsin-ma in Katsina State.

Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu at the event, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutse, highlighted the importance of the graduating students utilizing their knowledge and skills for the betterment of the nation. President Tinubu, in his address, emphasized the need for young people to seize the opportunities presented by the government’s agenda to elevate Nigeria to a leading position among African nations.

A key aspect of President Tinubu’s speech was the administration’s dedication to addressing unemployment, especially among graduates of higher education institutions. He encouraged the graduating students to take advantage of initiatives such as skill acquisition training centers by the NYSC and the Federal Government’s digital skill innovation programs, which aim to train 2 million youths and empower 1 million micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Furthermore, President Tinubu outlined the government’s efforts to tap into the potential of the agriculture and mining sectors by providing loans to graduates interested in pursuing careers in these fields. To ensure that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has been charged with developing a blueprint that will address the evolving skill needs in the labor market. This strategic initiative aims to foster collaboration between universities and employers of labor, ultimately enhancing the career prospects of educated young people.

In a proud announcement, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-ma, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, revealed that a total of 4,365 students had successfully graduated from the institution. Standout achievements included 112 students graduating with First-Class honours and an impressive 1,131 securing various second-class degrees.

President Tinubu’s commitment to supporting graduates in the agricultural and mining sectors signifies a significant step towards empowering the youth and driving economic growth in Nigeria. With initiatives aimed at equipping graduates with the necessary skills and resources, the government’s efforts are poised to create a positive impact on the nation’s economy and address the pressing issue of unemployment.

The future looks promising for Nigeria’s graduates in the agricultural and mining sectors, as they stand to benefit from the much-needed financial support and skill development programs championed by the government. It is a testament to the country’s dedication to nurturing talent and harnessing the potential of its young workforce.
