Abia State Fosters Economic Partnerships with Poland and Bulgaria

The government of Abia State is proactively pursuing economic partnerships with Poland and Bulgaria in an effort to enhance the state’s development. Governor Alex Otti has expressed Abia’s strong interest in establishing robust economic alliances with the two European nations during their official visits to the state.

The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mrs. Joan Tarnawska, and her delegation were the first to visit, followed by the Bulgarian counterpart, Yanko Yardonov, and his delegation. Both delegations indicated their countries’ interests in collaborating with Abia in various sectors such as agriculture, mining, education, culture, trade, and human capital development.

Governor Otti warmly welcomed the interest shown by both countries, emphasizing his government’s readiness to embrace partnerships that will contribute to the growth of Abia’s economy. He particularly highlighted the state’s ambitious plans in sectors like agriculture and education, expressing the desire to export skilled workers and products to international markets.

The Polish Ambassador commended Nigeria’s vast potential and expressed a desire to explore new avenues of cooperation with Abia State. She also referenced the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation and agriculture signed during the President of Poland’s visit to Nigeria last year as a foundation for deepening ties between the two countries.

Similarly, Governor Otti assured the Bulgarian delegation of the state government’s dedication to delivering good governance and its readiness to work towards economic growth. The Bulgarian Ambassador echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the collaboration being proposed, which aims to foster economic ties as well as people-to-people exchanges.

Abia State’s reputation as a hub of opportunities was highlighted during the discussions, with the Bulgarian delegation expressing a strong desire to collaborate and develop partnerships with the state. The focus areas of agriculture, trade, education, and human capital development were deemed as crucial elements for mutual beneficial cooperation.
