Police Discovery of Decomposing Body in Plateau Raises Alarm
The recent discovery of a decomposing body in Plateau State has once again brought attention to the ongoing silent killings in communities in the area. The victim, Michael Danladi, was found in a mining pond in Bakin Ladi Local Government Area, similar to the case of General Idris Alkali in 2018.
During the court proceedings, the prosecuting counsel, Mulleng Alex, also known as the Officer Crime (OC) of State CID Jos, led the principal witness to the stand to give his account to the court. The police IPO, Inspector Jurbe Ezekiel, testified how the police spent two days to evacuate the decomposing body of the late Danladi.
According to Inspector Ezekiel, the family of the deceased reported him missing on 25th September 2022. The police swiftly commenced an investigation and, as a result, arrested the principal suspect, Dung Isaac, who confessed to being a close friend of the deceased and contracting someone to kill him for 40,000 Naira. The confessed killer, Danladi Maiyaki, revealed that he used a hammer to commit the crime, and both suspects are currently in detention at the Jos Custodial Centre.
The discovery has raised alarm and prompted further investigation into the issue of silent killings in Plateau State. The case is set for a mini trial on 25th January as more details are expected to emerge.
This serves as a reminder of the need for enhanced security and justice in the region to prevent such tragic events from occurring in the future. The police authorities are urged to continue their efforts in getting to the bottom of these silent killings and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The situation also highlights the importance of community vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to prevent further tragedies. As the investigation continues, the hope is that justice will be served, and the community can find closure. The discovery of Michael Danladi’s body is a stark reminder of the need for swift and effective action to address security challenges in Plateau State.
