The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have collaborated to ensure effective dissemination of the government’s renewed focus on the mining sector for economic diversification to the grassroots.

Dr. Oladele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, stressed the significance of portraying the mining sector and highlighted the ministry’s achievements in drawing local and international attention to Nigeria’s mineral resources. He also expressed his belief that this attention has resulted in increased investor confidence and interest, which is expected to lead to foreign direct investment (FDI).

During the meeting, Dr. Alake lauded Mr. Mohammed Bulama, the Director-General of FRCN, for his efforts to reposition the corporation as a dependable source of information in the country.

In response, Mohammed Bulama commended the Minister for his leadership in implementing reforms that have redirected global attention to Nigeria’s solid minerals. He also outlined the challenges facing FRCN, including outdated equipment, analogue operations, unreliable power supply, and a demoralized workforce. Mr. Bulama appealed to the Minister for increased funding from the Federal Government to support FRCN’s mandate of effectively educating and informing Nigerians.

To guarantee the effectiveness of the collaboration, Mr. Bulama pledged the support of FRCN in promoting the market potential of the mining sector and creating awareness about the ongoing reforms to the general public.

The partnership between the Ministry of Solid Minerals and FRCN is a significant step towards achieving the government’s objectives for the mining industry and promoting broader economic development. By leveraging FRCN’s communication capabilities, the government is poised to effectively engage with both local and international stakeholders, ultimately strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global mining landscape.

This alliance underscores the commitment of the government to revitalize the mining sector and create an environment conducive to investment and growth. With robust and informed communication channels, the public can expect to be well-informed about the opportunities and reforms in the mining industry, ultimately contributing to the nation’s economic advancement.
