A Tale of Triumph
Abdulrasaq Isa Kutepa: A Man of Many Accomplishments
In 2011, Abdulrasaq Isa Kutepa encountered a significant obstacle but managed to transform himself and surpass it. Kutepa, a prosperous banker, oil tycoon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, has always held a deep passion for his home state of Kogi. He viewed the state as a reservoir of untapped potential and boundless opportunities.
Kogi State boasts not only abundant mineral resources and oil but also fertile lands capable of sustaining a variety of crops. It is also home to picturesque tourist destinations and historic landmarks. The capital, Lokoja, is where the Niger and Benue rivers converge, creating a breathtaking sight. Kutepa believed that the state’s highly educated and skilled human capital, despite being largely unrecognised, could significantly contribute to its development.
In 2011, Kutepa entered the political arena, contending for the gubernatorial nomination with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite finishing second in the primary elections, he did not let the defeat deter him. Instead, he returned to his business pursuits, co-founding Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited in 1998. The company has made notable advancements in the oil and gas industry and has contributed to the nation’s economy.
Kutepa’s dedication to Kogi State is evident in his philanthropic endeavours and commitment to the region’s development. His efforts to provide clean water in rural communities and dedication to educational and infrastructural development are commendable.
Kutepa’s journey is undeniably inspiring, and his achievements have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous accolades, including the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic. His commitment to the socio-economic development of the nation has also been acknowledged by local and international entities.
Despite his success, Kutepa remains modest and devoted to his roots. He has continued to prioritise his family and is a true patriot, always putting humanity and Nigeria first in all his pursuits.
Abdulrasaq Isa Kutepa’s story serves as a source of inspiration for many and a reminder that setbacks do not signify the end. As he approaches his 63rd birthday next February, his contributions to the nation and his home state of Kogi continue to inspire many.
