Yo, check it out! Investing in science and technology is the key to solving 90% of Nigeria’s problems. Instead of wasting money on fancy cars and stuff for politicians, the government needs to put that cash into education, especially in science and tech. We need to create a dope environment for science and tech to thrive, and hook up researchers with the funds and facilities they need to solve problems right here in Nigeria.
Dr. Edwin Andrew Ofudje, the Acting Dean of College Of Basic and Applied Sciences at Mountain Top University, dropped some truth bombs at the 2023 yearly International College of Basic and Applied Sciences conference. He said Nigeria is lagging behind because we ain’t putting enough effort into science and tech. He’s all about using scientific research to tackle our issues like bad roads, unemployment, and environmental problems. But here’s the kicker – we got the brains, but we’re lacking in the lab department. We need more top-notch labs and facilities to make things happen.
At Mountain Top University, they’re all about that Research and Development (R&D) life. They even got a Centre of Genomics and Bio-medicine sponsored by a foreign organisation. They’re doing some cool research on food borne diseases and even diving into Artificial Intelligence. It’s all about coming together to talk science and tech, and find solutions to our national problems.
Prof. Gabriel Ajayi, the Chairman of the local organising committee, and Prof. Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi, the Vice Chancellor of Mountain Top University, are all about using science and tech to make life better for us Nigerians. They’re talking about how science and tech can help us bounce back from the COVID-19 mess and boost our economy. They’re all about finding innovative solutions for a brighter future.
And let’s not forget about the role of universities in all of this. Prof. Kayode Adebowale from the University of Ibadan is all about universities being the breeding ground for smart ideas and innovation. He’s saying that universities need to step up and make a real impact on national development through their research and knowledge.
So, bottom line – science and tech are the real deal. They’re the key to solving our problems and making Nigeria a better place. We need to invest in them, support our researchers, and make sure our universities are at the forefront of scientific research. That’s how we’re gonna make things happen!
